Albufeira beaches are fantastic. Long, sandy, warm and inviting. Many beaches have the blue flag standard, which means that:
* water quality (the latest test certificate must be posted) * environmental matters such as recycling * offering information about the local ecosystem * adequate sanitary, safety and first-aid facilities * telephone and drinking water availability * adequate wheelchair access where topography allows * proper maintenance of any buildings on the beach.
Some of the best beaches in and around Albufeira include:
Gale - An expanse of sand that stretches for miles, between cliffs. It is equipped with a wide variety of tourist facilities. In the direction of Albufeira there are two small beaches that are quiet and little visited. If you want peace and quiet, you can find it here.
Castelo - A cove protected he rock formations. A fabulous little beach, well worth finding. Located about 4 km from Albufeira.

Coelha - A small and delightful beach, just a short walk from Gale Beach.

São Rafael and Vigia - Lovely beaches with impressive rock formations close by

Albufeira - The long Albufeira beach comprises three beaches: Peneco, Pescadores ( Fishermans) and Inatel.
Oura, Balaia, Maria Luísa and Olhos de Agua - A series of beaches each sheltered by attractive cliffs. An absolute delight.
Falesia - Endless miles of beaches fringed by the green pines and the many reddish colours Of the surrounding cliffs. Absolutely wonderful. One of the best beaches in The Algarve.
